Olivia Hawthorn here i am again, talking to myself sitting at a red light...*****
Olivia strode towards the door to the classic, tiny Starbucks coffee place. She had left at lunch to get some time to herself before the next bit of classes kicked in. Her jeans were lined with mud and dripped with water from the rainy day that had caught her as she ran towards the Starbucks from her tiny car. Her green t-shirt was covered by a sleek black jacket, though, so she hadn't ruined it as well. At least that's one good thing about my lousy day so far, she thought ruefully as the door opened in front of her.
Lifting her jeans as to not trip over them on the way in to the building or get them slammed in the door (again), Olivia quickly paced in through the next set of doors and slipped in silently to the mess of old men with smelly breaths and plump ladies making out with their boyfriends in the seats near the front. It grossed her out to see all this, but this was the only good coffee place around, so she quickly turned her gaze away and walked towards the counter to order.
Shortly afterward Olivia was sitting in a booth by the window where heavier rain started to stream down as it pounded against the roof and glass. She sipped the coffee she had bought delicately and looked towards the door briefly as someone entered. Turning away, Olivia regretfully thought about her life. She had never settled down with a boyfriend or anyone and this was just becoming a chain of eat, sleep, and go to school. She was sick of losing herself. Her head started to ache and Olivia took another sip of the coffee hoping it would ease herself. She thought for a moment and then took out a napkin from the little silver dispensers at each table and extracted a pen from her purse before starting to write out a song on it.
Maybe she could actually find something to do with this life.

Running as fast as she could, Avery lifted a magazine over her head trying to protect her body from getting even more wet than it already was. It was really unlike her to forget an umbrella on a rainy day. Passing by a few older men they chuckled at her clumsiness as she stepped in a puddle. "Merda!" she cursed angrily shaking out her wet leg. Slowing down her pace, she wondered if all this bad luck was the so called 'karma'. She certainly must be going crazy if she was thinking about karma.
The rain was getting harder and Avery was drenched. Throwing away her wet magazine, she rubbed her arms thinking about her coat that was with her friend. She had let her borrow it thinking she wasn't going off campus, boy was she wrong. Why she had ditched lunch? She was invited to some Chinese restaurant by two of her close friends. But after fifteen minutes of searching for the restaurant she was beginning to lose hope.
Feeling cold and miserable Avery began looking for shelter. She had officially given up. Looking across the street she spotted a Starbucks. Feeling grateful she ran across thew street and to the door opening it quickly. A blast of warm air hit her in the face and she sighed, inhaling the rich aroma of coffee. Smiling to herself she walked into line, slyly cutting in front of an older woman. After waiting five, uncomfortable minutes, it was finally her turn to order. Clearing her throat, she gave a small smile to the boy at the counter. "One Italian Roast coffee," she said clearly, handing the boy a ten-dollar bill. Pocketing the change in her pants pocket, she walked over to the pick up station. Grabbing her coffee she scanned she small cafe, pondering where to sit.
Lifting her coffee up high to avoid any spills, she walked over to a brunette girl who was scribbling away on a napkin. Standing in front of the booth she kicked off her wet shoes and sat down into the plush leather couch directly across from the girl. Smiling brightly at the girl she brushed a piece of damp hair away from her face. "Mind if I sit here? I rather sit here than by myself," she asked politely getting herself comfortable into the seat. "By the way I'm Avery," she said smiling, extending her hand to shake.
Notes: Merda means shit in Italian xD Outfit: I'll post it later Word count: Four hundred Seventeen

Olivia Hawthorn here i am again, talking to myself sitting at a red light...*****
Olivia watched as the rain drenched girl who had just stumbled in quickly ordered a drink and walked over to where she sat, greeting her politely. Normally, Olivia would've ignored her or muttered a curse under her breath and told her to find somewhere else to sit, but she was feeling sort of lonely and unrelated to anyone in their deep conversations, so she returned the handshake. "Sure. You can sit here."
She stuffed the napkin and pen back in to her purse and took a sip of her hot coffee, staring at the girl across from her. She blinked, realizing that it was rude to stare, and replied. "I'm Olivia. I think we take math together." Olivia chuckled calmly and started to carelessly examine the bracelet she was wearing- a gift from her mom for her thirteenth birthday. It had a beautiful, tiny, sparkling diamond in the center of a silver lined heart. She cherished it.
Shaking out of her thoughts, Olivia peered over at the girl. Her hair and clothes were soaked and she had no jacket. Unsure of what to do, she took another sip of her coffee. Absently, Olivia brushed her hair out of her eyes and attempted to start a conversation with this other girl. "Soo... what are you doing here out in the rain?" she wondered aloud to the other girl. Olivia hoped her attempts at a chat didn't seem desperate or stupid. She also hoped that this wasn't one of the jerks who ran around screaming that they were dating the jocks and acting as if they were queens. But she didn't seem to be that type of person.

Avery watched the girl curiously and then gave a wide grin."I think we do," she said giving a light laugh. Surprisingly Avery was in a good mood despite being wet. Taking another sip of her coffee she peered at Olivia. "That's a beautiful bracelet," she admired. "That's a real diamond right?" she asked. Placing her hand on the hollow of her neck she felt her own necklace, a simple gold chain with an 'A' in the center. She always had it on, except for when she was in the pool, and in the shower. Avery sighed sadly, she missed Italy. Her friends, family, she left it all. Honestly America wasn't bad at all, it was quite fun. Rubbing her eye e she looked at her black fingers. Annoyed, she grabbed a paper napkin and wiped her fingers off. She must look like crap.
Grabbing her purse she took out a small bag which held small packages of make up. Pulling out her compact she looked in the mirror gently rubbing off her mascara stains away. Looking back at Olivia she closed the compact placing it on the table. Realizing she was talking to her she became angry. "My two dumb-ass friends gave me the wrong address for where we were supposed to meet," annoyed, she flicked a piece of hair out of her eyes. "Figures, most people don't even know what a zip code is," Avery laughed to herself. Her friends weren't the two brightest people, it was a wonder they were even passing. They must have done something, or maybe bribed some one.
"What about you?" she asked "Where are your friends?" she asked curiously. In Avery's world everyone had a friend. Running a hand through her hair, she winced when she tore apart a tangle. Searching through her purse(again), she found a hair brush and began brushing her brown locks. It wasn't good manners to brush you hair at the table, but manners be damned. She looked like crap. Giving a smile at Olivia, she wondered why she hadn't met her before. She was pretty and seemed nice. "Are you new?" Avery blurted aloud. Blushing a light shade of pink, she gave a sheepish grin. "I haven't seen you around campus much," she explained.

Olivia Hawthorn here i am again, talking to myself sitting at a red light...*****
Olivia listened as the other girl spoke, starting to fix her makeup and brush her hair while venting about her 'friends' who had given her a fake address to a restaurant. At every question, Olivia patiently commented or answered, such as a simple nod or grunt to acknowledge the spoken words and occasionally a 'yes'. She half wished that this Avery person would shut up, but Olivia new better than to just be rude. She'd need all the help she could get in this forsaken universe.
After Avery commented about Olivia's own friends not being anywhere nearby, she got uncomfortable. Olivia shivered and glanced away awkwardly, but quickly turned back to Avery and shrugged, her tongue pressing around the insides of her mouth in embarrassment. Finally, she spoke quietly and softly to her newfound friend. "Well, to tell you the truth-" Olivia broke off and sighed. "I don't really have any. I've only been going here a darn month and I don't really care about any of the whores here who only care about having sex and getting manicures." Olivia got so lost in her venting that she forgot to watch her mouth like her mother had told her so many times. Darn her.
She swept her hair over her shoulder and sighed, sipping her coffee and peeking out the window yet again. "I don't see why I have to come to this forsaken place. Sure, it's Manhattan, with lots of malls and stuff, but what good is the theater or Aeropostal when there's no one to share it with? It's like heaven in a box. Get the box open, and, TADA! Shiny golden rings and gates and stuff." Olivia muttered under her breath. She groaned softly and looked back at Avery, realizing that her rants must be getting friekin' boring by now. "Sorry about all my ranting and stuff. I just.. I have lots of stuff on my mind right now." Great, can you say stuff one more time? she thought with frustration. "Just... stuff." Great, you did.
Olivia sighed and rubbed a hand through the roots of her hair, just brushing her scalp. She was half compelled to reach in to her purse and snatch out the latest book she was reading, but it was sort of tempting to just listen and talk to Avery. It felt good to have someone who actually listened to your mindless rants.
